My Holiday during Khmer New Year

Happy Khmer New Year 2017

     People all of nationalities always celebrate their own New Year every year, According to their culture and tradition. For this year, Cambodian people celebrate Khmer New Year at 14^th, 15^th and 16^th of April or Khmer called “Khae Jaet”
which is the time when people release from their hard work. For me, I also enjoy and have fun with Khmer New Year.

     First day of Khmer New Year is called Mahasang Kran. I go to three pagoda with my family. There are Wat Neak Krovan, Wat Ou Na Lorm and Wat Takmav. I bring fruit and the traditional cakes called Num Onsom that make by my mother to pagoda too. In the pagodas, I build sand mountains outside the temple.

     Second day of Khmer New Year is named Virak Vanaboth. I visit my aunt’s house. At morning and afternoon, I play card, ballon and traditional game with my family and relative. At evening, we enjoy the bbq that make by ourselves.

     Third day of Khmer New Year is named Virak Lerng Sak. I go to visit my sister’s in law’s house. Her house is at Kompong Cham province. I go there with my family, my aunt’s family and my uncle’s family. We go to visit temple that everybody called “Phnom Bros Phnom Srey”, and we take a lot of photographs of the temples and background there. The most interesting is that I go to visit “Kosh Pen” that located at Kompong Cham province too. Moreover, I go to some of the pagoda around my sister’s house to give food to the monks. After that I dance and play Khmer traditional games at there too.

     Khmer New Year is the most perfect time for Cambodian people because we can meet each other and have fun with our relatives, friends and family.
